🌱 The ‘launde’ as the Normans referred to it, or the ‘lawn’ as we refer to it today, dates back to 1066. Here at The Manor, we have labored to produce a healthy stand of turf on our East Lawn, especially for our clients and their guests. But the virtue of the lawn extends far beyond its beauty. Did you know that a lawn is a little ecosystem? It is of enormous benefit to foraging birds, produces oxygen and absorbs carbon dioxide, prevents erosion, and captures and breaks down air pollutants. We are excited to see the ceremonies that will take place on our lovely East Lawn!✨

🌱Our approach to landscaping the grounds at The Manor is simple. We are striving to incorporate as many native plants as possible, such as the Snow Queen hydrangeas that will form a lush backdrop for the altar area. The many urns and pots sprinkled throughout the East Lawn are filled with soft, neutral colors that will complement any color palette. And finally, we installed a graceful iron arch that will soon be covered in blooms from a mid-twentieth century climbing rose.🌹

🎨We cherish the hand painted mural on our foyer wall for its beauty and the sweet story that accompanies it. A former owner of The Manor was a school teacher. One of her students had an unhappy home life and was often welcomed to the farm where she found great peace. A talented artist, she later gifted her hosts with this beautiful mural, depicting a secluded corner of the property. This treasure is signed and dated and has been carefully preserved. When we give private tours, this lovely piece of The Manor’s history is among our guests favorite parts✨

A little history for your Friday…
Originally, there was only one medallion on the ballroom ceiling and it was cracked. We wanted to restore as much as possible while renovating the Manor, so we found an artist who was able to recreate the medallion by fixing the first one, and creating an exact replica for the other end of the room.
We have also added wallpaper to accent the new gold elements!
